Lately I have been trying to read many of the New York Times review of books and I keep giving up on them. Today in my favorite literary blogger finally put words to it: They are constricted to a certain style. Silly me I hadn't noticed until I put a hold on this book at the library, went eagerly to get it and then closed it before... I feel kind of guilty giving this book only 2 stars, because it's clear the author is talented. Unfortunately, what she failed to do in "April & Oliver" was create characters worth caring about.April is brunette, wild and troubled but has a heart of gold. Her step-brother's half-cousin (or something like that, another flaw was the incredibly... Hauntingly beautiful, totally capable of fracturing not only your heart, but your soul.
